Meticulously handmade rattan coasters produced in Hanoi by an artisan who has been making rattan products for many years.
The inner frame is made from rattan and the interwoven strands are made from a plant called cây guột or forked fern in English.
You can see just how much effort goes into making these coasters with how many strands are used and how the inner frame is completely covered. Only 2-3 pieces can be produced in a day.
There are many other types of rattan coasters on the market and the majority are quickly made using only a few strands with the majority of the inner frame exposed.
Highly durable and will darken in color over time as tea is spilled on them.
Keep them dry between uses and they will last a long time.
